The Boys' Brigade in Somerset

BAND COMPETITION G9

1. The competition will be open to all bugle and trumpet bands in the Battalion.

2. Where possible the Judges appointed for the Squad Drill competition will be asked to judge the deportment section of the band.

3. Marks will be awarded for:-

a) Inspection - 25 marks per boy, totalled and then divided by the number of boys in the band.
b) Drill incorporating coordination - 35 marks.
c) Deportment - 25 marks.
d) Playing - 60 marks (30 for voluntary, 30 for set piece).
e) Drum solo - 30 marks.

4. Voluntary piece - if this is not from the current Bugle Band Handbook then a copy of the music must be sent with the entry form.


PERCUSSION COMPETITION

1. Will include all percussion instruments except the snare drum.

2. To be judged during the band competition.

3. Marks will be awarded for:-

a) Style - 15 marks.
b) Deportment - 15 marks.


BUGLE COMPETITION

1. Only bugle and bugle mouthpiece to be used.

2. Boys to wear the correct BB uniform.

3. Marks will be awarded for:-

a) Dress - 10 marks.
b) Bugling - 30 marks
c) Style - 10 marks.


DRUMMING COMPETITION G10

1. Boys to wear correct BB uniform.

2. Marks will be awarded for:-

a) Dress - 10 marks.
b) Drumming - 30 marks.
c) Style - 10 marks.


DRUM MAJOR COMPETITION

1. As per the current Bugle Band Handbok.

2. To be judged during the Band Competition.

3. Marks will be awarded for:-

a) Dress - 25 marks.
b) Drill - 75 marks.
c) Power of Command - 25 marks.
